==[[S&S: Weapons | '''WEAPONS''']]== Weapon statistics and player character bonuses are recorded on character weapon sheets. The following factors must be recorded in the weapon entry spaces. * '''Weapon Type Name:''' Common terminology or nomenclature for the weapon * '''Weapon Features:''' Each weapon has one or more features, such as "blade", "top-spike", "back-spike", "hammer-face", etc., each with corresponding damage, bonuses, etc. * '''Character Bonus:''' Bonuses totaled on the Character Worksheet (ability score bonuses, etc.) along with any race or class bonuses. * '''Speed:''' Speed of the weapon, by feature, which determines what initiative segment that the weapon strikes upon, before any adjustments for winning or losing initiative are applied. * '''Length:''' Length of the weapon, which determines the distance a weapon can nominally reach from a character's approximate position. Length helps determine if characters making initial contact with an enemy are awarded the ability to ''immediately'' strike or even striking ''first'' during charging situations. Length also helps determine if enough room is available for the weapon to be wielded, particularly in regard to overhead space. * '''Damage:''' Damage that the weapon can inflict, by feature, prior to adding character bonuses or modifiers for Weapon Type vs. Armor Type considerations. * '''Weapon vs. Armor Bonus/Penalty:''' These are damage modifiers used when the weapon strikes one of the four different general categories of armor. The categories are NONE, LEATHER, MAIL, and PLATE, with each group containing several types of historical and fantasy armor in each category. For example, while mail armor easily falls into the MAIL category, scale armor also falls under the MAIL category, due to it similarities in protective nature. The specific armor types that are listed have been color coded to more easily recognize their armor category during play. The corresponding color category is found on the weapon section of the character sheets. Category & Color: NONE = pink; LEATHER = yellow; MAIL = blue; and PLATE = grey. In the scale armor example, being considered MAIL, it would fall under the blue color-coded area for the MAIL category. * '''Range:''' The range of missile weapons is recorded in range increments that have cumulative penalties as the weapon is used versus targets that are farther away. Each increment beyond the first is a -2 penalty. There are 6 increments for most hurled weapons, and 11 increments for projectile or 'fired' weapons, thus, up to a -10 for hurled weapons and up to -20 for most projectile weapons. * '''Weight:''' Weight can be tracked for encumbrance considerations. * '''Notes:''' Special or even common information regarding the weapon or its use can be detailed here. For examples, the penalty to speed for hurled weapons and bonuses for flails versus shields can be entered in the space. '''Recommendation:''' Drawing a simple sketch of the weapon in the margin, along with writing its length under it, helps to more easily spot the weapon on the character sheet and quickly know its length for weapon length comparisons for charging characters or character otherwise engaging in 'first contact' with an enemy to determine who strikes immediately or first (See Weapon Length rules).
