Hit points are typically awarded by the following:

* '''Spells''' Temporary hit points are awarded by the application of specific magic spells to a character. When determining which pools of hit points are used up first when damaged: '''the last spell applied is used up first'''. Recasting spells will often replenish such pools - or even expand them in the case of a superior spell cast by a different caster. It is generally not possible to cast spells several times to compound hit points. It will be necessary to track the time left on spells to determine when they will collapse and dissolve. Some spells multiply hit points. During combat, damage is deducted from the multiplied total. When the spell ceases, the current hit points are divided by whichever number they were multiplied by. As an example, a spell that doubles the hit points of character that started with 25 hit points will realize 50 hit points. During combat, they are struck for 10 points of damage, reducing them to 40 hit points. When the spell ceases, the character will have 20 hit points.
